NEW!
Introducing the Galvan Torque Large Arbor reel.
Function, unique design, and quality: All the hallmarks
of the Galvan tradition are represented in this
completely new reel.
What's different about it? Everything.
From the rounded spool and frame rims, to the
contoured counter balance, to the uniquely designed
cutouts on the spool, frame, and drag knob, to
the innovative new drag system, the Torque is
clearly a step up in fly reel design.
|
|
The drag system for the Torque is composed of
stainless steel and a state-of-the-art, heat-
and wear-resistant thermoplastic unlike anything
else on the reel market. It is completely salt
water safe, and will continue to perform flawlessly
under the harshest conditions from the flats and
the blue water to the mountain streams and the
coastal rivers.
Its unique design does not rely on ball bearings,
but retains the smoothness of action that Galvan
is known for. The ventilated drag knob is solidly
detented for precise settings. Quiet clicks both
in and out add to the distinctive style. It is
easily interchangeable from right to left-hand
retrieve and the highly ventilated spool and frame
will balance nicely with the lightest of todays
fly rods.
The Torque is available in graphite bronze and
black finishes. From the first sight, the hand
is drawn to the reel. From the first spin of the
spool, the quality becomes apparent. Does form
follow function, or does function follow form?
In the Torque, it all folds into one.

NEW!
Introducing the Galvan Rush Large Arbor reel. Increasing
the size of the arbor does several things. Line
is stored in large coils, and so has less memory.
More importantly, the larger arbor diameter and
increased reel width on the Galvan Rush dramatically
increases retrieve speed. Line is picked up much
more rapidly than with a conventional spool. Finally,
on a long running fish, a conventional reel will
spin faster and faster as more and more line is
taken out. The resulting increase in drag is often
enough to pop a light tippet. With a wide, big arbor
spool, drag tension remains almost constant as more
line and backing are pulled from the reel, thus
reducing the chances of breaking off a good fish.
|
Fully machined from 6061 bar-stock
aluminum, and anodized to a semi-gloss black finish,
both the one-side frame and push button, quick release
spool on the Galvan Rush are fully ventilated for
light weight. The spool on the reel is counter-balanced
for wobble-free rotation and features a contoured
delrin handle. The silent retrieve and quiet, pleasing
outgoing click will make you feel like part of the
river; no harsh clicking or clacking to echo off
the canyon walls here. Changing retrieve direction
on the Galvan is as easy as flipping over the clutch.
This light, smooth, simply elegant reel has to be
seen and felt to be appreciated.

Since its introduction to the market
in 1994, Galvan has steadily gained a reputation
as a quality piece of equipment that will hold up
to any kind of abuse that a hard-fly angler can
dish out. |

The Open Back reel was introduced
to the market in March of 1999. The Open Back incorporates
a large arbor for a few reasons. First, the large
diameter on the Open Back dramatically increases
retrieve speed. Line is picked up much more rapidly
than with a conventional spool. Second, on a long
running fish, a conventional reel will spin faster
and faster as more and more line is taken out. The
resulting increase in drag is often enough to pop
a light tippet. With a large arbor spool, drag tension
remains almost constant as more line and backing
are pulled from the reel, thus reducing the chances
of breaking off a big fish. Finally, line is stored
in bigger loops, thus reducing the line coil memory
and those annoying loops that come off near the
bottom of a conventional spool. |
|
Galvan Open Back reels incorporate
all of the outstanding features of the standard
Galvan reel. Available in the OB-1 (Open Back
1), OB-2, OB-3, OB-4, and OB-5. These reels feature
the same incredibly smooth action and drag as
all Galvan reels. The machining of the frame and
spool reduces weight and enables you to look through
the middle of the reel. The Open Back's spool
and frame are fully machined out of 6061 bar stock
aluminum. It has a quick-release spool that requires
no tools to change and is counter-balanced for
wobble-free rotation. Made of aluminum and stainless
steel. All Galvan reels are available in semi-gloss
black, green or clear finish with stainless steel
or brass accents.
