Step
Tying Instructions
1
Tie the rib material at the 1/3 hookshank point and overwrap a smooth threadbase to above the hook point.
2
Tie in one Chick-a-Bou® feather by the quill with a loose wrap and pull towards the hook eye so that the hackle tips make a short tail. Tie in and do not cut off excess.
3
Twist the Chick-a-Bou® feather like a dubbing rope and wrap forward to just behind the hook eye. Tie in and do not cut off excess.
4
Pull the excess fibers on the top of the hookshank upward and cut off leaving the bottom fibers remaining. These will represent the emerger's legs.
5
Counter-wrap the rib material over the body and through the legs for durability to behind the hook eye. Tie in and cut off excess.
6
At a point 2 hook eye lengths behind the hook eye tie in one Brahma hen soft hackle feather by the quill with three loose thread wraps. The feather should be pointing backwards toward the hook bend.
7
Pull the Brahma hen soft hackle feather towards hook eye so that the tips line up with the end of the body. Tie in and cut off excess.
8
Using the excess fibers cut from Step 4 dub a small head.
9
Whip-finish using a minimum number of wraps.
