PMD CDC Para-Spinner

Hook: TMC 100BL or 101BL
Size: 16 ~22
Thread: Yellow 8/0 UNI-Thread
Tail: 3 ~ 4 Light Dun Hackle Fibers
Abdomen: Cream/Yellow PMD Colored Thread
Rib: Thread Marked W/Brown Marking PenParachute
Post/Wing: 2 Paired White CDC Feathers
Thorax: Fine PMD Dubbing
Hackle: Oversized Grizzly Hackle, Dry Fly Quality
Head: Thread
Optional: Tungsten Bead Head
 
Step Tying Instruction
1 Lay thread base.
2 Tie in dun tails, flair.
3 Build thin body of thread to the 1/3 hookshank point where the parachute post will be tied in. Color the thread body Brown with a marking pen.
4 At 1/3 point from eye tie in CDC post using parachute tying method.
5 Tie in grizzly hackle at base of post.
6 Dub a heavy PMD thorax to base of post.
7 Continue to dub PMD thorax toward eye stopping short to leave room for neat head. Take a few more thread wraps and whip finish.
8 Wind hackle 3-4 turns, then, trap tag with a couple loose wraps of thread, carefully tighten hackle by pulling pliers.
9 Add head cement to complete fly (a drop at base of post will insure fly durability).Trim post as shown in picture.

Fishing Instructions:

Fish this fly as a "strike indicator fly" with a trailing emerger or by itself. It will float perfectly on the surface and you can see it from great distances. It fishes as a spinner or dun and lays flush in the film making for a great profile in slow or back waters.

Note:
In British Columbia, they do not allow for a second fly when fly fishing, only a one-fly rig is allowed.
